Lydia Fairfax, a young woman living in Victorian London knows that she is different, and she is trying to discover why. She is a born vampire, though she does not know it until she meets the enigmatic Seth Morrigan. Lydia believes that she is going insane; she can hear other people's thoughts, feel their emotions, and is even impervious to injury. But Seth tells her that he can help her, and show her a better world that she would never know if she stayed with her family.
